Settling estates and Probate applications
When someone dies, their money, property and possessions, "their estate", has to be distributed in line with their Will. It's usually necessary for the relatives to apply for the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration to allow them to do this. It can be an overwhelming responsibility if you're coping with the death of someone you love. So the PWS can take it off your hands. We can:
- contact everyone who needs to know about the death
- apply for Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration
- liaise with the Probate Office and Inland Revenue
- deal with banks, building societies, pension companies, insurers, share registrars, etc
- fully wind up the estate for you.
Arranging a meeting
If possible we like to meet you face to face. We hope it will reassure you to meet us in person and it gives us the chance to gather all the information we need. We treat all information with complete confidentiality.
Coming to us
You can arrange to come to our office in London. Give us a call or drop us an email and we will set up an appointment for you.
If you'd feel more comfortable talking to us at your home, or your place of work, we'll be happy to visit you there.
If you live outside London
We can still help you wind up an estate. Give us a call and we’ll explain the procedure to you.
If you live overseas
If you are dealing with the estate of a UK resident and you live overseas, we can normally handle everything for you so you don't need to travel to the UK. We can act as the administrator or executor and give you regular progress reports. Please call or email us to find out more about how we can help you.
Every estate is different. So once we've discussed the details with you, we’ll give you a cost for the work you would like us to do. If you'd like to talk about our fees, please do get in touch with us.
